close encounter

This is one of my first tries at digital night photography! I took these on Monday night when Jupiter (the tiny speck in the lower left corner) was the closest it has been to Earth since 1963, only 368 million miles away!

They are still rather grainy (actually, they were noisy but I added grain in Photoshop so it would at least look a little better) but I like them! I messed around with ISO and aperture and shutter speed and these were the two I liked best. I still can't decide between the two though, what do you think?

I like the last one too - more artistic, looks like it could be a giant painting.
