weekend recap

Hello blog world! I had a lovely weekend with lots of stormy weather, but which was rather fun for a change:

Friday was spent dog-sitting/house-sitting, watching Burlesque (don't judge me! It was at the house I was staying at and I thought why not?), drinking a cheap bottle of red wine, and devouring a very good book.

Saturday was spent with my friend, Caitlin, and her boyfriend, Toby. Caitlin and I haven't seen each other in a few months, so we spent a lot of time talking and catching up, watching Blue Valentine (I thought it was good, though obviously sad, and a little slow at parts), and going out to eat at Wild Magnolia (the only bar in my small town).

Sunday was spent with Caitlin and Toby again. We drove an hour away to (finally) see Jane Eyre. (We both read the book back in middle school and several times since, so Jane Eyre is kind of our "thing." When I heard that a new version was being made, I immediately thought of going to see it with Caitlin, and it was so so so good!) We then went to P.F. Chang's, a really nice Chinese bistro where I ordered steamed pork dumplings, spicy stir-fried eggplant (I didn't realize how spicy, but it was still very good), white rice and a mini tiramisu for dessert. Yum yum yum! Then we walked around Barnes & Noble (where for once I didn't buy anything) and headed back home.

I finished the weekend by finishing that bottle of red wine and watching the two-hour season finale of Desperate Housewives.

How was your weekend?

i really want to see burlesque actually! don't judge me back! i had a lot of stormy weather also - except that i was stuck out for most of an evening with soaking wet flats :( my friend literally rang them out and they poured water, it was no fun! (but the party was fun!)

sounds like a lovely weekend! i hated blue valentine! not even ryan gosling's cuteness could save it. the good life was a little better, albeit just as dark and creepy!

sami - i sent you an email!

krystal - ack! that sucks (i hate getting wet, really really hate it), but at least you had fun :)

mmmm... I really want to spend an evening with just me, a bottle of red wine and a book. that sounds nothing short of awesome.

also, I really like the picture of the crumpled Starbucks cup on top of the books.
