faceted glass part i

A week or so ago I mentioned that I had finally finished a photography job I've been working on for the past six months and that I would share the results with you. Well, the job involved taking pictures of faceted glass windows at a church where I live. Faceted glass is different than stained glass and is so amazingly beautiful! (There's a little information about it here.) The client was extremely happy with my work, but I still feel I could never do the windows justice; they are truly remarkable in person.

The pieces of glass are big, thick chunks of color encased in cement. I haven't been in many churches, but I've never seen anything like this. The style is so different, not at all traditional, almost contemporary, especially for being made in the 1960s. I love the deep, rich blues and the "stripes" of color, the abstractedness mixed with the little picture details.

For right now I'm only posting the more abstract features, but stay tuned for more!

I LOVE these. They totally appeal to my sense of...whatever. I like them so much, I'd blow them up on canvases or something!
