dreaming in charcoal

Ever since Crystal Gentilello first mentioned painting her new San Francisco apartment in a daring shade of charcoal, I couldn't wait to see the outcome. Luckily, I didn't have long to wait as she recently revealed it in the latest issue of Rue!

And. I. Love. It.

The grey is dark though not gothic, bold though not overpowering, subtle yet daring, classic yet glamorous. In other words, absolutely perfect. A flawless compliment to the many textures featured in the room (and you know how much I love a perfect texture combo): the luxurious grey curtains, velvety wood tables, crystal clear glass lighting, pale pink flowers and ornate objects.

Oh my goodness, charcoal is such a lovely color and somehow these rooms definitely aren't super dark or dreary at all [like some would believe] they're just lovely!

Woah. I love it, but I'd never, never be able to pull something like that off (I'm too mismatched). Such a gorgeous choice though!
