I know that M. C. Escher is known more for his staircases and hands and reflections, but it's this seemingly ordinary lithograph that has long been my favorite of his. I can't rightly explain why, but I love it...
This particular version of "The Phosphorescent Sea" is a scan from a book I have of his work, but in other sources online, such as here, you can clearly see Ursa Major in the night sky.
