black swan

I'd been really looking forward to seeing the psychological thriller, Black Swan, ever since this blog post from August and I finally got the chance to see it over the weekend! Needless to say, I loved it. It was everything I love in a movie: beautiful, dark, strange, different, and impeccably shot. I thought the dance scenes were amazing with the swift camera movements and gorgeous costumes. In fact, I found the whole movie visually stunning, even in the more ordinary scenes; the whole film was imbued with a palette of soft pinks, greys and blacks. My fiancé and I were also in awe of how many mirrors were used in the film and how the viewer was presented with sweeping 360-degree views, yet the camera crew's reflection was never seen! I can only imagine how much painstaking work that must've taken!

After filming my "movie" with my siblings and cousins, I can't fathom how they were able to film so many mirror shots without seeing the crew! Very impressive and what a headache.

This film was amazing! I saw it last night, definately the best film I have seen in a long, long time. As you said, the cinematography was beautiful -as were the Rodarte costumes and the dancing. And I too was in awe of how they managed to use so many mirrors and not catch any ones reflection!
Happy new year lovely!
